Would you drive a car that has not been checked by a mechanic in over thirty years? Or even buy a car without a professional evaluating its condition? Now apply that thinking to your home.
Increasing utility bills, drafty rooms, uneven temperatures in the home, and lessening our carbon footprint are predominant concerns of most homeowners. To address these issues the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy created the Home Performance with Energy Star program.
Home Performance with Energy Star is a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving energy efficiency and home comfort, while helping to protect the environment. The Home Performance with Energy Star program has trained and certified contractors to perform whole house audits. The contractor views the entire home as a system and evaluates how each individual aspect of the home affects its overall efficiency and safety. By taking a “whole house” approach to energy efficiency, Home Performance with Energy Star customers enjoy benefits like fewer drafts, consistent temperatures across rooms, better ventilation and humidity control, and energy savings.
